Plaquenil & Weight Gain/Loss - The plaquenil has caused a weight gain of about 20-25 pounds for me. Since I was diagnosed with MCTD a year ago, Plaquenil has been the only medication besides eye supplements, thyroid meds - been stable for years, and most recently Evoxac that I have been given.

Atovaquone-proguanil versus chloroquine-proguanil for malaria. Thus atovaquone-proguanil, like chloroquine and mefloquine, acts only as a suppressive prophylactic agent against P vivax and P ovale. After dosing is discontinued and drug elimination occurs, a delayed onset of malaria caused by a relapsing type of malaria parasite can therefore occur, and is consistent with the course of events we observed.
