    Can you chew plaquenil

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

If you contract it, you go to a doctor. Chloroquine is a generally well tolerated drug. As CQ has a host-based MOA, resistance is unlikely to develop. There are some serious adverse effects and contraindications though. Do not take CQ if you have G6DH deficiency, get that checked. One of the problems with Plaquenil is that because it's so slow to act, the improvements are also slow and subtle. So most people don't realize that they've improved until they STOP taking it. I've been on it twice, along with Atabrine another antimalarial. In my case, it never worked so I didn't notice a change. Does Plaquenil Interact with other Medications? Severe Interactions. These medications are not usually taken together. Consult your healthcare professional e.g. doctor or pharmacist for more in.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

The 2002 recommendations considered a daily dose at or below 6.5 mg/kg/day of hydroxychloroquine to be low-risk for subsequent toxicity.
