Apr 29, 2019 Frontal fibrosing alopecia FFA is a primary cicatricial alopecia characterized by loss of follicular stem cells, fibrosis, and a receding frontotemporal hairline, with frequent loss of eyebrows, and less commonly, body hair involvement. Diagnosis is clinical and the disease most often affects postmenopausal women. Hydroxychloroquine sometimes referred to to under it's popular trade name“Plaquenil” is a type of anti-inflammatory medication used to treat some types of hair loss such as lichen planopilaris and sometimes discoid lupus and frontal fibrosing alopecia. Dec 02, 2016 Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for frontal fibrosing alopecia FFA. Because the hair loss associated with this condition is thought to be caused by inflammation of hair follicles, treatment often involves using anti-inflammatory medications or ointments, such as corticosteroids, tetracyclines, or hydroxychloroquine brand name Plaquenil, to reduce inflammation and suppress the body's immune system. 7

All the studies published during March 2012-June 2017 were included in this review. Methods: We searched Scopus, Pub Med, Embase, and ISI Web of Science.
